I Would Rather Be Running

A follow on from my blog post The break Well, it's not been easy resting and I've not been an easy patient as I can't do this, that and the other [mostly running things]. OK! So I can't do what I want to do, IE running, so maybe I should focus and what I can do! After all I promote this within my job role. I should practise what I preach ... Week 1 & 2 I have been given a boot to wear when I'm walking, I've to rest and keep my ankle elevated most of the time. I have read books, watched TV, napped and sulked. The boot? I wear only when I'm walking out doors. It's heavy, bulky and I can get around just fine without it [no pain when weight bearing] PS. Don't do what I do! The boot . Aka my New Rock. I think I am supposed to wear it 24/7 and even in bed! It's a bit late now as I walked and worked on my break in the beginning, but I can weight bear and have done since I broke my ankle. The Break

I had planned a route across the Rivington Moors heading toward Darwin using the Spitlers Edge and I wanted to look for the start of this route before I ran it. I had been on annual leave and after a full week [almost] of wind and rain Sunday was finally mild and looked pleasant enough for a walk.  I asked my hub if he fancied a walk with the dog and a butty. He didn't really but said that he did! We made butties, got some water and rounded up the dog and off we went. I opted to park where I thought would be nearer to where I thought the Spitlers Edge started, in a car park at the foot of a run I do regular. I swapped to trainers that I use for walking in and as we set off on our walk and barely even out of the car park, I somehow managed to turn my ankle in a pot hole.
