I'd be ok

During one of my breaks between work calls, I was looking at an out of date local paper.
An article caught my eye. It was of an event that had taken place in the area. A Mud Run, or an Obstacle Course Run [OCR]
What was I reading? What was this run?
I Googled.
I can't find the original article, but here are two reviews of the one I 'missed' in 2013.

It sounded fun!
I was going to do this next time it was local.
I posted on facebook, asking for a co-runner, and got one.
I entered...

It was going to be ok. I was a runner now. I could run 10k.
I was also fit now [I thought] from doing my home workout videos, Jillian Michaels and Insanity.

I'd be ok.

I reflected on my decision and decided I best join a gym for weights and bootcamp type workouts to go along with running. After-all, I'd have to haul my body-weight over fences, after wading through water and mud while running X amount of miles.
Training went well :)
ahem :/
I'd be ok.
The event arrived, May 2014, at Leisure Lakes, tarlton, Preston.

It was a bit bleak, and I didn't really want to do it.
Nerves kicked in.
I didn't like the cold, and I didn't much like the rain.
Obviously I wasn't a hardened runner!
I'd be ok.
There was a warm up by Go Commando, It was the dance to the song 'superman' by Black Lace.
"1,2,1,2,3 go
clap your hands
sleep
wave your hands
hitch a ride
sneeze
go for a walk
lets see you swim
now ski
spray
macho man"

It was fun and relaxed and put me at ease. I was relieved. I was expecting burpees

Then we were off. I remember the first obstacle being knee deep water to run through. It was cold. Very cold. Which pretty much set the tone of the rest of the run.

There was water, mud and obstacles, such as tyres, fences, crawl nets. It was cold, I was wet, it started raining. I was tired, cold and wet, but I kept going, it was fun, and I enjoyed it.

Here's a Go-Cam of my day at the event :) Enjoy!!

I crossed the line and got my finishers tee and bottled water. No medal. But a sense of accomplishment. [Oh and a chocolate trophy from my hubby]

I washed off the best I could, stood in a field with water from bottles ... Then went home, tired, aching, sore and feeling a lttle broken, to soak in a hot bath while my hubby hosed down my kit in the garden.

I enjoyed it so much I've since done another three!
