rainbow

I was asked to join in a different kind of run not long after my muddy experience.
The Color Run [colour]. Yes, it mildly irked me that it was mis-spelled.

I checked out the web site and signed up to the 'local' event. Manchester.

This is the best post-5k party on the planet! With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:

1. Wear white at the starting line
2. Finish plastered in colour

I was expecting great things! Music, stalls, colours, etc. and was looking forward to it.

My tee [which had to be worn for the event] and bib arrived, number 52340 ...

So quite a few runners then!

Not long after the event day was here. I was picked up by fellow runners and we were off to Manchester.

We joined in with the thousands (?) of other runners milling around and waiting to start.

The queue to see Dulux dog was huge and didn't get to pet him :(

It was time to warm-up. It was fun and energetic with Capital FM radio.

Then we went up to the starting area, cheered, whistled, wooped etc. and we're off.

A slow run, walk, chat, take photos, kind of off.

You see this wasn't a race, or even a run if you didn't want it to be. It was an experience.

No PBs.

No times.
A fun event for all abilities to finish how they wanted.

So we ran/walked round the course, stopping to get covered in a paint powder at each colour zone (every km) as the objective of the event was, to start off in your clean white tee (provided) to get covered in a different colour during the run. Pink Blue Yellow etc.

However I found that you had to actually stop and wait in the colour zone to get covered in colour. And it wasn't as much as I expected!

Then it was over.

As they always are.

Sadly I wasn't as much of a rainbow as I'd liked to have been!

We collected a few goodies, socks, laces and a paint sachet [to throw over ourselves/each other], took photos then made our way back.

It was a fun event and a good morning spent with friends, a very different experience to 'races'. No medal, but a (now clean ) tee as a momento.

For me I already wanted a challenge.
Could I run the distance.
Run it easier.
Run it faster.
Get a PB :)
