Mad Dogs in the Mist
It came the time to book races for 2015.
Obviously I wanted something local. I wouldn't be driving!
Something I could run reasonably comfortably. So not too great a distance.
With a medal and goody bag!
I had seen the Mad Dog 10k a fair bit. I looked on the facebook group and web site.
It sounded a good 10k with a great looking medal.
I decided to enter.
It was ideal!
It was a 10k. That's ok.
I'm slow but can run 6mile reasonably comfortably now.
Can't I? :/
A 'flat run' so PB perfect. Ok.
After getting something to eat and a cuppa from the burger van, we [me and my hub] got on the bus that took us back to the car park to collect the car and drive home.

Maybe I'd beat my last 10k PB!
I'd get a course PB no matter what, as it was my first time at the event.
No hills. :)
Not too far for my hub to drive. Ok again.
I entered :)
It wasn't until the event started getteing nearer I realised what I'd done.
At the seaside
On the coastal line.
In ... February.
As the time of the event got closer, there were a few comments about the run in the facebook group from those who've already done it the year before.
"Good flat course Can be a little open to the coastal elements for the 1st part"
"What was it last year 30mph head wind? You know its windy when experienced runners start tucking themselves in next to you for shelter"
"The wind usually saves me £100 a year in not needing to pay for facial exfoliation!"
"Fingers crossed the weather is better then last year. Once we got onto the front, the wind had us nearly horizontal at one point & I swore "never again""
As always I was greatful when I saw the finish line!

Oh I was so looking forward to running 10k on the seafront in February.
Glad my hat arrived!
It was fab btw. My hat. In keeping with the mad dog theme/idea I thought :D

The day arrived.
It was misty.
Well, more foggy.
Very foggy...
It was misty.
Well, more foggy.
Very foggy...
I remember posting a status/tweeting something along the lines of:
'never mind gorillas in the mist, its mad dogs in the fog'.
'never mind gorillas in the mist, its mad dogs in the fog'.
We arrived at the allocated car park and I joined a queue, quite a big queue for not so many loos :/
The buses were waiting.
I was queuing.
Time to get to the start was nearing.
Should I just get the bus and hope the next loo queues were shorter?
This was a rel dilemma.
Eventually we (hub and me) boarded one of the buses waiting to take us to the race start.
Here there were many loos. Many many ... I could have got the bus sooner!
It was very busy and bustling.
I joined my wave. Bulldogs.
The slower runners.
The fun runners.
The back of the pack runners.
I hoped I wouldn't be last!
The DJ[s] got things going, clapping, singing, woofing and howling to 'Who let the dogs out', and then the hounds were released ... all 2300 of them [or so they say]
Mad Dog 10k The Start Line [borrowed from a facebook post in the mad dog group].
Despite the fog it was mild, and not at all windy or rainy, and was, in my opinion, good running conditions. [sound like a runner, don't I?]
The route was a single loop along the coast, round pleasureland and past the marine lake, back to the start/finish.
I ran a steady[?] 10 and a half[ish] min mile pace, and finished in 1:04:55 according to Strava Best estimated 10k effort and 1:05:33 according to the chip time.
So not a PB for a 10k, but a PB for Mad Dog 10k :D
I think that as I was expecting it to be cold, I had dressed too warm.
I run warm.
Still, it was a good time for me and a new course/run :)

10k was [is] a distance for me to run at a comfortable pace, comfortably.
It's an hour of running for me after all!
I collected my water and doggy bag.
It was a great bag. Socks, run-clips, sweeties ...
The tee was fab and the medal was my favourite [so far]
After getting something to eat and a cuppa from the burger van, we [me and my hub] got on the bus that took us back to the car park to collect the car and drive home.
I'd enjoyed the morning.
I decided I'd run the next one next year :)
