It's traditional to start January 1st but in all honesty people are too tired in January. I am and so are you.
There's the run up and organising of christmas, Christmas itself, work load, family commitments, unfamiliar routines or no longer a clear routine due to the festive season.
So it's suggested to wait until February, but not to attempt to start a resolution before giving yourself the time to recharge your batteries and to reflect on the year that has just passed.
Clean out the clutter of the year just passed
Start a journal (thoughts, ideas, plans, memories, feelings, positive outcomes)
Gather your tools ready for your resolution in mind
Stop procrastinating about what to do and do
Start with little goals that will give you the confidence to attempt bigger, more difficult resolutions. Here a some more achievable ideas to begin with;
Become more active; I don't mean join a gym or run a marathon, just go for a walk more.
Spend More Time In Nature; which follows nicely from the first idea.
Travel; Doesn't need to be far or exotic. Find different places to go on your walks!
Get more quality sleep; Turn off earlier, do your stretching, read a book, get black-out curtains .
Start Meditation; Get up a few minutes earlier and just sit quietly before you begin the day. Turn everything off before bed and do the same.
Read a book; a page or a chapter each day
Remove toxic people; on social media by clearing your friend list, more isn't necessarily better. Unfollow and block. At work, change desk, department, shift, office, job if you need to!.
And remember if you do fail, fall off or whatever it's ok because you're human. Some days you'll want to lie in, eat the cake, go for a drink because it's only natural. Just pick it up again tomorrow. And don't beat yourself up.
Be Kinder to Yourself. Start and end each day by focusing on what you've achieved rather on what you think you haven't.
